Self-Care: A Pamper Night

Over the past few years, I have really been getting into self-care. I think self-care is so important because it's all about showing love to yourself and your body. You're gonna to be stuck with you for your entire life, might as well show yourself some love.

As I get more into self-care, I'm hoping to share more tips & tricks that I have found work for me. Of course, self-care is a personal thing, all about finding out what works best for you. Until then, I thought I'd share some things I like to do on an evening when I like to pamper myself and just give myself a little extra love.

- Change into comfortable clothes
There is nothing worse than being in uncomfortable clothes or clothes that you've been stuck in the entire day. Put on some fun PJs or comfy sweats to settle in for the night.

- Watch something that makes you happy.
After changing into some comfy clothes, put on a TV show or movie that makes you happy. On my pamper nights, I really like to put on something I've seen before so my brain doesn't have to focus too much on a new plot line. My go to shows and movies would have to be, Gilmore Girls, Friends, Parks and Recreation, You've Got Mail, either of the Princess Diaries and any Disney channel original movie. So turn on that Netflix and kickback and just veg.

- Do some yoga
Once your show or movie is done, try getting up and doing something. Recently (and by recently I mean literally just this last week) I have been getting into yoga. It's something I've wanted to do for awhile now but just didn't have the time to implement it into my routine. Mainly I've been doing it in the mornings, but I love doing a nice relaxing bedtime yoga routine to wind down after a long day. It can be super simple yoga, maybe following a few stretches you know or following a guided routine on Youtube. I recommend Yoga with Adriene and SarahBethYoga, they both have great stuff and it's all just about finding what works out for you and your body.

- Mediate
I know a lot of time people will make fun of mediation, but it's honestly so great. I recommend doing it in the mornings, to get a positive and clear mindset for the day, but it's also great to do during a pamper routine, clearing your mind for a good nights sleep. I mainly like to mediate after my yoga, but sometimes depending on the yoga routine I do, I get a good bit of mediation in while I'm doing my stretches, then sometimes I skip this part. Whatever you do, I can't recommend mediation enough. It's just a great thing to try and fit in every single day. If you're looking for a good meditation app, I really recommend Calm and Stop, Breathe & Think these are both great and have lots of great guided meditations to get you started.

- Bath time
I always save taking a bath for a pamper night. I just find it so relaxing and therapeutic to sit in the bath and just completely relax. There are several different things I do during a bath. Most nights, I really try to stay off my phone as much as possible, but sometimes I'll listen to some calming music or take this time to catch up on a podcast or an audiobook. I'll also read a book or sometimes watch some YouTube videos. Or I'll even just sit there and just relax. I would absolutely light candles if I was allowed (the house we are in right now doesn't allow it) and I totally recommend that, but you are also not able to, I suggest diffusing some oils in a diffuser. My diffuser has a light function so I like to turn that on and turn off the lights and just completely relax. I have really been enjoying diffusing Lavender and Cedarwood in the evening because they are supposed to be really calming and help you sleep better.

- Face masks are a must
Most times I pamper myself, I'll put on a face mask. You can't have a pamper night without wearing a face mask, that's like a crime. Sometimes I'll put it on while I'm watching TV, in the bath, or after and just chill out on my phone for awhile. I would like to call myself a face mask connoisseur because I have quite a few. A few of my favorites are:

 - Oil Absorbing mint & lemon Clay Mask
I have very oily skin and break out easily and this mask is just wonderful for that. I use it all the time and it's honestly my all time favorite mask and it's only $4!

- Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask
This one is for normal/combo skin and I find it really nice for when you just feel like your skin needs a little something. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft and just makes ya feel good.

- Detoxifying charcoal & black sugar Mud Mask
I like this one for when you need to get rid of those awful pores and just want a good, solid mud mask. It also smells wonderful. This is for normal/combo skin.

- Pretty Animalz Moisturizing Sheet Masks
If you're looking for just a good moisturizing sheet mask, try these fun animal print ones. It makes wearing a face mask so much more fun!

I just really love face masks if you can't tell and I think they really make a pamper sessions.

- Unplug & unwind
Finally, after you have done all your pampering, I really try to just unplug. I set my alarms on my phone and put it across the room, trying to spend time away from it. Then I'll journal and do my bullet journal, really taking the time for myself. I'll usually read for a little bit and then try to get to bed early, getting a good nights rest.

These are just a few things I like to do on a pamper night. I try to change it up often, keeping it fun and exciting. But I do try and do a pamper night as much as possible, usually once a week if I'm not crazy busy. Take care of yourself, cause you're stuck with you.
